MY FIRST PERSON RESPONDED YOU SAID I ONLY HAD TO DO ONE BIO.
Bio:
Elise Mahoney - Local Photographer
http://www.ehmahoney.com/
Elise Mahoney is an outstanding local photographer who has showcased at Oswald, LuLu Carpenter's, Vine Hill winery and many others. She enjoys capturing everyday objects with strong geometric shapes and patterns. She is also drawn to vibrant natural colors. Elise never alters her photo's and is against staging her photos. She likes the raw art of nature. Lacking a darkroom Mahoney will use her computer and sometimes will add a digital wash to photos to enrich the emotion and impact the image. Personally her form of photography is appealing to me.
Interview:
What is your Favorite Part of being a photographer in Santa Cruz?
The greatest part about Santa Cruz is the natural beauty that comes free. For most places you have to set up back rounds, or construct natural beauty. Santa Cruz supplies that for me.
What is your favorite thing to photograph?
Once again i enjoy photographing the natural beauty that Santa Cruz has to offer. when i mean Beauty i mean the people. (laugh) I enjoy doing portraits of the funky people downtown that Santa Cruz supplies.
What does your job consist of day to day?
Well luckily my husband has a high paying job, therefore i do not have the stress and pressure to pay rent like most photographers do. For me it is more like a hobby that makes me a good chunk of money. I am so very fortunate to have my husband around. (Husband in room.)
Does your family ever take part in your photography?
My husband is rarely involved in my photos, however he supports me in everything I do and often critics my finished work. My son is very on top of it. He enjoys taking photo's with me everyday and i enjoy taking photo's with him.
What is your favorite part about taking a picture?
The scouting. I love just traveling around the bay area searching for interesting things to shoot. i never go out with a specific agenda in mind. I prefer to simply let the photo come to me and i intend to capture it in time.
What kind of equipment do you use daily?
Often I just use my cannon, occasionally I will bring my tri-pod, but that never happens. i prefer the simplicity of photography and I like to let my imagination take over the photo, I do not let the equipment define my shots.
